Each floor has a unique kaleidoscope piece created by an Austin artist combining local nature in a mixture of cool and warm tones to complement the color palette of the space.

WHOLE FOODS MARKET /
AUSTIN, TX

Holistically, this project conveys Whole Foods' dedication to environmental and sustainable practices and its local Austin roots in an organic yet modern style. For their 5th and Baylor Austin office, Whole Foods invested in artwork that connects to the space and reiterates their brand values. To accomplish this goal, met/gal commissioned nearly 70% of the collection from local artisans, in a diverse set of mediums, that encapsulates the essence of Whole Foods' founding city.

Our teams joined forces to create a cohesive narrative, design elements and art concepts repeat across all three levels. This repetition allows employees to experience each floor as an extension of one another. For example, the embroidered hoops were each created with a unique design but the concept echos from floor to floor. These various art concepts with the replicated design elements, like the wood slats and breeze blocks, create a unified space.

In addition to visually connecting the art and design, we integrated clever and consciously sourced installation methods. Utilizing dried wheat to create medallions and collaging images of Central Texas flora and fauna were just a couple of ways that allowed our team to illuminate Whole Foods' message, brand, and intention in the subtlest of ways.

“Whole Foods invested in a community they are deeply rooted in, which created an opportunity for the artists to flourish and produce an intentional collection.”

— Paige Bolting West, met/gal Project Manager
