THE SUMMIT AT UNIVERSITY CITY /
PHILADELPHIA, PA
As the nation’s largest developer of upscale student housing (and met/gal’s longest-running client), we’ve curated just shy of 100 art collections for American Campus Communities' (ACC) properties across the United States. The Summit, in Philadelphia, is one of three of ACC’s properties partnering with Drexel University, serving as one of their flagship locations. As with all of ACC’s portfolio, met/gal approached the collection by sourcing local artists within the city as well as school community.
For this 1,315-bed, 24-story project, the goal was to accentuate student community spaces and create youthful, colorful moments to engage residents and visitors. The pinnacle moment being the lobby’s record wall installation, which composed the digital soundwaves of vintage stereo systems into a colorful collage. We worked with masterful artists Roger Sayre and David Poppie, collected hundreds of vintage record albums, and devised a lively, textured composition.
