HARBOUR CLUB AT WESTEDGE /
CHARLESTON, SC
Boasting 360-degree panoramic views of downtown—locally coined “The Peninsula”—and featuring traditional southern hospitality with a modern Lowcountry influence, the Harbour Club is the perfect backdrop for the Greater Charleston leadership community to collaborate, innovate, and socialize.
With nearly three decades in their previous space, the theme for the new club needed to not only represent the history of the organization and city, but a youthful and diverse future. The design and the artwork melded these two ideas. From Charleston’s centuries-old port to its prideful history of tea harvesting, elements were utilized within the artworks in a contemporary arrangement.
The most prominent pieces are the five radials within the banquets. To create these pieces, the artist used historical maps and specific color palettes using Washi tape to create a custom medallion that both enhance the overall design of the space and holds hidden message of sorts for the local viewers.
To maximize the budget, met/gal utilized the same multi-talented artist that created the rounds to craft a majority of the collection in different styles and mediums, from the floral installation in “The Ashley Room” that overlooks the Ashley River to the Citadel button wall mount in the conference room.
Overall, every aspect of the space is a reflection of the past, present, and future of Charleston and will be a pillar of the community for decades to come.
